- Coconut pieces - 3, finger-sized
For Rice Base
- Rice - 2 parts (e.g., 1 cup), soaked
- Toor Dal - 1 part (e.g., ½ cup), soaked
- Water - 4x the rice/dal volume (or 1.5 times excess)
- Turmeric Powder - 1 tbsp
For Sambar Base
- Potatoes - 1, chopped
- Beans - a handful, chopped
- Carrots - 1, chopped
